Q: What classes and chanting services are conducted by Arsha Vidya Bharati ("AVB") and where are these held?

Q: Is Arsha Vidya Bharati ("AVB") a tax exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization?

A: Yes, AVB is a non-profit tax-exempt organization incorporated in Texas, USA.  All donations to AVB are tax deductible under IRS 501(c)(3) to the maximum extent allowed by US Laws and regulations. Our IRS EIN is 46-1439990.  We are also exempt from any Texas state and franchise taxes.

Q: Is there a "per class" fee for your services?  Is there a membership fee?

A: One-to-one private classes, Summer / Winter Camps, and Immersion courses like PRAVESHA will have a "per session" contribution.  

We do not have any "per class" fees for classes that have 5 or more committed students, nor do we have any "membership fee".  However, please note that we work hard to support dhArmic organizations like SAMSKRITA BHARATI  and  ARSHA VIDYA GURUKULAM. Your contributions towards this goal would be greatly appreciated. 

Every student in a GROUP class is required to contribute his / her yearly guru dakShiNA.  This enables you to attend your selected AVB course for an entire calendar year (2 semesters). Please email us for details.

Q: Can the parent(s) also sit in and learn along with their child(ren)?

A: Yes, absolutely. In fact, we highly recommend that parents too enroll and attend AVB classes and worship services along with their child(ren) whenever possible.  

We have observed that when parents attend these sessions with their child, the child's commitment to the subject increases dramatically. Secondly, openness and communication within the family is enhanced. Thirdly, it is AVB's wish that parents also become teachers at some stage and become role models for community services, wherever they live.

Q: Is it possible to attend these classes from a remote location, e.g., my home?

A: Yes, this is very much possible, provided you're joining from a computer and not a mobile phone.  (Note: We discourage attending via mobile phones since they are very distracting.)  All our classes are available via Zoom ever since COVID impacted us.

Q: Can I enroll for multiple classes / chanting services in the same year?

A: Yes, you are welcome to attend as many AVB classes and worship services as your schedule permits, subject only to eligibility criteria specific to each class. Please email us for details.

Q: Will I get a receipt for my contributions?

A: Yes, AVB will provide a tax receipt for all guru-dakShiNA contributions (other than book purchases).

Q: I love the way you conduct your classes, adjusting the learning pace according to the audience in each class. Would it be OK for me to refer any of my friends to your services?

A: Yes, absolutely, and we really appreciate your kind referral.  If your referral goes through successfully, you will get a bonus of $25 as Amazon eGiftCard (delivered via email) per referral.  Please ask them to contact us at AVB.HOUSTON@GMAIL.COM.

Q: Will there be a make-up class if I miss a class or two due to unforeseen circumstances?

A: No, there will be no make-up class.  However, a video recording of each (week-end) class will be available on YouTube a few hours after after the class is over.  You can use it either to review what was learned, or to catch up (in case you could not attend).

Q: Will there be any home work?

A: Yes, the expectation is that each student allocates at least an hour every week outside of the class to complete their "assigned" or "assumed" home-work. The higher the priority you give to your samskritam learning, the faster your progress would be. Students also have the flexibility to switch to an advanced class if they want to accelerate their studies. However, please note: Homework will not be graded, nor will there be any examination. Only some ongoing feedback will be provided to each student in a personalized way.

Q: How do I make a payment to AVB for enrollment?

A: Our preferred method to receive payments is via the Zelle online money-transfer system. This is a FREE, fast and secure way to pay through your own bank's web-site.  For more details, please contact us at AVB.Houston@gmail.com .  We do not use PayPal.
