For over 25 years, ASH has been a labor of love, a simple promise: show up, and the game will be there. We’ve grown from a few musicians with broomsticks to a 150+ person community, installing our own boards at Walker Park and competing in the NBHL. This success is entirely thanks to the dedication of our players and the occasional small fundraiser.
Now, we are taking a crucial step to safeguard our future and enable serious growth: We are exploring the official formation of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Benefit: How it Helps ASH
Financial Security All donations become tax-deductible. This is a powerful incentive for our players and local businesses, which means more money for court maintenance, better equipment, and larger events.
Protecting Our Rink Non-profit status provides a formal structure to partner with the City of Atlanta, making us eligible for grants and giving us a stronger voice in securing our long-term access to Walker Park.
Community Growth We can secure corporate sponsorships and apply for grants to fund community outreach efforts, continuing to grow the game for all ages and skill levels across Atlanta.
Organizational Stability It provides legal protection for our volunteers and ensures a clear, formal structure for leadership transitions and decision-making, guaranteeing the club endures for decades to come.
The strength of a non-profit lies in its volunteers and leadership. This will be a 100% volunteer-based executive board—no one is taking a salary.
We need to know who in our community is ready to step up and help formalize, guide, and support the Atlanta Street Hockey Club into its next chapter.
We have calculated the cost of such a venture and determined we would need to generate between $3000-$5000 of revenue annually to sustain the operating expenses (specifically insurance). This is about $250-$420 of monthly income for the organization (this could be as simple as 10 people pitching in $25/month or donations, events and fundraisers that generate the funds).
