GRAND MOSQUE SERIES

My Mosques represent Harmony.

When I moved to Dubai I had to learn to drive on the opposite side amongst fast speeding city traffic with my young daughter in the back seat. Every day I would take her to school on one of Dubai’s busiest highways. There was a Mosque, partially obscured by trees. It signified my exit to get off the highway. It would pop out at me and every time I saw it I had such an overwhelming reaction of relief and appreciation for its beauty. I wanted to paint that feeling..... showing the movement and energy of life all around, and through it all you can always find something to focus on... sometimes it is obvious, sometimes not.... But it’s always there... and so was born my Grand Mosque collection with the heavy texture and its ability to change with the light.... sometimes standing clear on the canvas, and sometimes not.

The Pearl Mosque is the collection from which two works were chosen to decorate the Endurance Village hunting chalets.... a proud moment for me.

This collection is depicting the movement and energy of life all around ... the bustling vibrant city which is forever growing and changing. The buildings are there but not always obvious... but it’s there. Sometimes it’s shining bright on the canvas and sometimes it’s lost in the background.... Ever changing... always evolving

The Pearl My Dubai is the piece selected for the collection to decorate the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Dubai. These are moments artists live for.... Such an honour!

Glittering Dubai Series

The background depicts the movement and energy of life, The Burj is at moments lost in the canvas….. moving in and out of focus…. yet standing proud and catching the light from different directions. The changing effects of the piece play to the concept of Dubai’s constant ability to rapidly adapt and change and evolve and grow.

Wild Poppies

This collection represents ‘Abandonment’ .......... the need to let go and be free, to just be...... releasing control over the rigidity in our lives..... even if just for a moment in order to find ourselves again.

Aotearoa Series

My ‘Kiwi’ collection ️..... For those that don’t know .... I’m a “Kiwi” or a New Zealander. The Maori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa. This collection is a representation of home for me and has a load of hidden meaning!

The big leaves and very essence of New Zealand flora and fauna signify our Native Silver fern representing maturity and strength. The Koru (spiral shape) is the unfurling new frond representing new life and growth. The Pohutukawa flowers (which only bloom at Christmas time) scattered throughout represent joy and a time for family. The painting has a base of pearl (which gives the whole work a subtle shimmer ...Kiwis shine!) and overlayed there are splashes of deep blue and green the combination of which depicts our Paua (Abalone) representing abundance and sustenance. This collection should be in the Signature range due to the time taken to create and as each one is quite different to the next, however it is an emotional collection for me and I like to keep it affordable.

Dubai Scape Series

I wanted to create an abstract landscape that unless you know Dubai you have no idea what this is and it is just an abstract painting. The buildings look like they might be calligraphy. The city appears to be lost in the humidity and sandy haze.

This is the collection from which the Burj Khalifa invited me to make a special collection of Burj paintings which are on show exclusively in the boutique of the 148th Sky Lounge... the worlds tallest viewing platform.

Dubai Life Collection

This collection showcases the three layers of life in Dubai. First we have lost in the background, lines peeping through- representing the old town and the old way of life here which is the foundation and base upon which the city is built. The second layer is the bright colours representing the beautiful new buildings, business and tourism. The third layer represents our lives and homes and how it is all still connected with the business and tourism. All together it shows a life which is busy and beautiful. Select 3 main colours and I will create a piece bespoke for you.

Zen Collection

This collection is pure abstract and is about capturing feelings on canvas. The bases are painted with pearl so that the canvases have a subtle iridescent shimmer to them

Little Black Dress

This simple painting is packed with hidden meaning.This collection is about confidence. The repetition of the dresses is depicting routine and structure which makes us feel secure thus bringing about the bones of what we need to truly feel that confidence. The wonky angle of the dress depicts freedom and letting go… being able to let your hair down so to speak. The number of dresses is a personal reference.... The black represents elegance and beauty. We all look and feel amazing in that little black dress!
