Bespoke Landscapes

Sometimes I am asked to created an abstract landscape of a place which is dear to someones heart.

Using the Pearl Mosque for inspiration and utilising the same soft colours, textures and light changing technique.

Ziggy's Smoochy Smudges

I had the honour and privilege of being asked to work on a special commission which is a celebration of Love, Loss, and Memorialisation. Creating a tangible memory of a much loved pet.

Ziggy left behind a bedroom window covered with his nose prints which over time became its own work of art. I have transposed this on to canvas to be forever encapsulated as an abstract artwork. The painting has been designed to catch the light, and change with the light.

Ziggy had the most gorgeous tones of bronze and pearly caramel in his coat, hence the base palette in the piece is tones of bronze. The piece is heavy with textures and movement yet also in places calm and still. Just as he was.

I've been immersed in this project for months and feel like Ziggy has been guiding me through the intricate process.

It is truly a work of love.

Smoke Smudges

In this piece the umbrellas are symbolic, a representation of destinations.... places visited in the world ... the boxed lines are depicting emotional experiences had along the way. For some the yearning need to travel and experience the wonder of being somewhere new is overwhelming. The thrill of walking the path others have walked. The need to take time and step out of our own lives and all the stress and rigidity that comes with it. The umbrellas are heavy with texture and have been painted to create the illusion of sometimes appearing wet on the bottoms. As if rain is running off them. Some appear to be buffeted. Each stands alone. Sometimes they are close together but not overlapping. Every place and experience is different and has its own character.... as do the umbrellas. Unique experience. Unique opportunity. Unique wanderings.

Prayer Flags of Butan

This work has incorporated the prayer flags of Butan in a mixed media effect on canvas.It has been created to capture the energy of the flags moving and flowing. The changing directions and flow. The circles of life and lines of rigidity too. With touches of pearl and gold to catch the light ….. simulating the way the light filters through in the forest…. Moving and shifting.

Wine Time Pett

This piece was a bespoke work created especially for a couple in celebration of their wedding Anniversary. The Bottle is a depiction of their favourite wine. The background colours their home scene. The berries and foliage a snapshot from their table pieces and bouquet.

Sunflowers

The feeling of summer heat radiating of the canvas the way the petals soak up light from the sun.

An abstract rendition of the Italian Como Lake countryside. The feeling of summer heat portrayed in the bright colours.

Fields of France

This collection was created after attending a painting retreat in France where I was challenged to paint with an unfamiliar medium. This piece I created afterwards embracing liquid acrylic techniques learnt. I’m an abstract artist and wanted to create an abstract landscape depicting the long lines of lavender, poplar trees and rolling hills.
