A.K.A. "The Prison Band"
Formed by "Doc" Friese whom I met through the Fairfax Jaycees and who was the Assistant Warden at Camp 30 Minimum Security Correctional Institution west of Fairfax, VA. Doc, me and Jerry Rockwell were the only white people in the band. The other members were recruited from the prison by Doc, who let them out on work release for gigs. Doc live in a house on the prison grounds, where we rehearsed in his basement. We only played a few gigs, and I left the band on somewhat of a bad note after Doc locked up my equipment in his basement, and I had to break in to load up for the Ramada Inn gig. He threatened to call the police, after which my wife and I met with his boss, and no charges were ever filed. After that I put an ad in the paper and found Dennis Swindle, with whom I formed Thaxton & Reed.
