Dennis Swindle answered an ad I put in the paper after leaving Beefeater. He had been playing a solo gig under the name "Thaxton" and wanted to form a duo with me on piano. So the two of us worked up a repertoire of 30+ easy rock songs in one evening in my basement. He contacted an agent, "Forty" Thompson who told Dennis he could book him the next weekend if he had a band. So Dennis told Forty that he had a band, after which he enrolled two more musicians with whom he taught with at a local music store. So at our first gig at the "789" club on Fort Belvoir, I met Steve Boyle, the bass player and Kim the drummer. On July 28th we played a political picnic in Fairfax, after which Kim was seen (1) walking around with a joint and (2) stealing all the leftover liquor. So the next day I had to fire him, after which our new drummer Calvin replaced him.
