  • Served as Vice-Chair & Member of the City of St. Albert’s SMART City Master Plan Steering Committee (April 2014 to August 2016). Report submitted to City Council can be accessed from City of St. Albert website.

  • Examining potential benefits and challenges associated with the Internet of Things integration in supply chains (co-authors Abubaker Haddud, Arthur deSouza & Huei Lee). Published in Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management. Vol. 28 Issue 8 (2017) / pp. 1055-1085 (Publisher: Emerald). Received Highly Commended Literati Award 2018 from Emerald Publishing.

  • On the line - Business Education in the Digital Age / Editors: Anshuman Khare and Deborah Hurst / Publisher: Springer International Publishing.

    • Athabasca University's digital-first ethos was lauded by the 2017 Top Ten Books Online list, curated by Contact North. They noted that the book was a "strong collection of ... well-written, focused and ... contemporary [papers] ... of interest across all disciplines taught in colleges and universities ... [that] look at why online learning makes sense, how it is practised, and the outcomes and impacts of online learning on business education, to date."

    • Book also received attention from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (via its Twitter feed) and was the book of the week in March 2018.

  • Overseas Experiential Learning Courses in Management Programs: Planning, Design and Impact (co-authors Helen Lam and Deborah Hurst) – Presented at the 2012 ASAC Conference in St. Johns, Canada on June 9-12, 2012). Accepted for publication in proceedings but withdrawn as a journal article is planned. Paper awarded the Best Paper for the Management Education Division of ASAC at the 2012 Conference.

TEACHING

  • Awarded the Craig Cunningham Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence (2003). This distinguished award recognizes excellence in teaching by Athabasca University faculty. It is awarded for, among other things, excellence in presentation of subject matter, innovation in delivery of subject matter, high standard of service to students, leading to student success, and other innovations affecting the quality of teaching and/or service.

  • Awarded the Instructor of the Year 2009 for Master of Science Programs offered by Laureate On-line Education Inc. and University of Liverpool, Liverpool, England (UK).

  • Awarded the Instructor of the Year 2013 for Master of Science, Master of Project Management and Master of Management Accounting Programs offered by Laureate International Universities (US).

  • Awarded Athabasca University Graduate Students’ Association (AUGSA) Outstanding Distinction Award (2015) for AU Faculty. AUGSA provides the Outstanding Distinction Award for Faculty to acknowledge and honour AU faculty members who display exemplary leadership, support, and engagement with graduate students.
