What is the earth asking of us?
Is it possible to partner intentionally with the elegant creativity of the earth and the cosmos?
How does our inner life respond to the vibrancy of the natural world as a living subject?
Starting in May 2026, join Ann Amberg, M.C.S., M.A. for a dynamic 5-part seminar as we explore foundational cosmological/ecological patterns that have shaped all life from the birth of the universe. Guided by the scientific framework developed by Dr. Brian Thomas Swimme, The Powers of the Universe*, we will take a look at how our personal and collective psyche reflects these patterns embedded in the world soul, the anima mundi, in a depth ecological context.
What are the powers of the universe?
They are foundational universal, eco-cultural and psychic patterns that shape all life, from molecules to animals to bioregions to galaxies. Mythically, they are the forgotten cosmological gods. Gravity, creativity, balance, destruction and rebirth, transformation, and complexity are just a few of the foundational powers that work to ensure the regeneration of the earth's ability to be self-creative.
Just below our everyday consciousness, primal archetypal tendencies structure realities that bubble forth from mystery. These science-based "gods" personify the core elements of a new, relatable understanding of our embeddedness in the earth community—part of our unfolding story that celebrates what it means to be a contributing member of the human species. Guided by these powers, we are invited to become more ensouled and in sync with a larger psychic context informed by the dream of the earth now, in this uncertain changing-time.
This immersion program is recommended for leaders, educators, spiritual practitioners, therapists, writers, systems thinkers and anyone who seeks to deepen their soul orientation and thrives in holistic learning processes. The session format includes time for presentation, questions, a Council Circle to encourage individual and group reflection, resources, and suggestions for applying our learning in everyday life.

2026 Archetypal Earth & Cosmos sessions:
Session One
Introduction. "Seamlessness"—the generative mystery, ground of all being, the ecological unconscious.
"Centration" —how the universe centers on the unique unfolding of each being: individuation and the ecological self. "Allurement"— we are bonded to each other and to the earth through the primordial power of eros
Session Two
"Emergence"— the earth is creative and gives birth to new ways of being and knowing in each moment.
"Homeostasis"— how the earth is self-organizing and maintains its capacity for self-creation.
Session Three
"Cataclysm" — in the cycle of life/death/rebirth, nature composts what it has created to nurture the continuity of life. "Synergy"— beauty, complexity and working together: building resilient communities, renewable energy use, and cohesive habits of mind.
Session Four
"Transmutation"— how engagement with the other changes us: shadow work and the ecological challenges we face now. "Symbolization"— healing and seeding deep shifts in values and worldviews one idea, one image at a time.
Session Five
"Interrelationship"— deepening care, joy and compassion for the earth community, nurturing the beauty we create and remembering we are sponsored by the earth.
"Radiance"— we can become vessels for the magnificence of the universe in resonance with our depth of feeling. Conclusion.
Session Agenda:
In each session, I will set the tone in a short grounding meditation to set the container for our space. After a 10 minute check in I will share a guided presentation for 40 mins. with a break for questions. We will participate in a Council Circle and/or question and answer period and then close the space.
Presentation segments of the sessions are recorded; participants receive the full video recording link.
Cancellations:
Cancellations received by May 3, 2026 are refunded the full program fee. Cancellations after May 10 are nonrefundable and eligible for credit towards future programs or private mentor sessions.
We ask participants to commit to the entire course; to preserve the cohesion of the cohort we do not offer a drop-in option.
Resources:
Participants receive a wealth of resources including:
links to The Powers of the Universe recorded studio sessions with Dr. Brian Swimme
complete digital transcripts of each segment
comprehensive related bibliography and relevant media

An epic story of cosmic, earth, and human Transformation! This EMMY® Award-Winning Documentary, written by Brian Thomas Swimme and Mary Evelyn Tucker, connects such big picture issues as the birth of the cosmos 14 billion years ago – to the invisible frontiers of the human genome – as well as to our current impact on Earth’s evolutionary dynamics. Nature's universal patterns guide our lives
In our time together we’ll take a deep dive into ten cosmological dynamics: Centration, Allurement, Emergence, Homeostasis, Cataclysm, Synergy, Transmutation, Transformation, Interrelationship, and Radiance. We'll invite a reflective, embodied experience of the numinous qualities of earth and psyche, exploring inner leadership capacities enabling us to respond with grace and agility in this time of systemic shifts at the personal, cultural and global level.
Of the archetype, C. G. Jung wrote: “It persists throughout the ages and requires interpreting anew. The archetypes are imperishable elements of the unconscious, but they change their shape continuously.” (CW 9i, 1959, para. 179). Our discussions will help illuminate how these universal patterns—archetypal constituents animating the ecological unconscious,—emerge via a multitude of symbolic images into our own conscious awareness in this time of global upheaval. Our engagement with the ten cosmological dynamics is a creative practice of deep ecopsychological "image literacy."
Inspired by the work of Brian Swimme, Thomas Berry, C. G. Jung, James Hillman, David Abram, Sharon Blackie, Geneen Marie Haugen and other luminaries in the fields of cosmology and consciousness, ecopsychology, myth, nature-based inquiry and depth psychology, we will explore our emerging orientation as planetary humans, consciously reflecting and inhabiting the ten patterns that shape the universe and all life. With a deep awareness of these patterns we can learn to work in synergy with life systems to release an outmoded domination paradigm and nurture our birthright as resilient planetary humans.

In the Archetpal Earth & Cosmos immersion program we will:
Learn to cultivate an embodied awareness—through feeling, sensing, intuiting or imagining, and thinking— of the ten cosmological dynamics and the relationships between them
Reflect on our emerging consciousness of how the Powers as mythic archetypal ‘gods’ of our time in a depth psychological context
Consider how awareness of the powers in our everyday lives shape our worldview and can inform our approach to complex systems including climate change, technology and economics
Cultivate a collaborative group spirit through focused dialogue, imagery, dream work, council circles and contemplative practices
Build our capacity to use our curiosity and our boundaries to become containers for eros and beauty
Strengthen our felt sense of how we might enter a participatory consciousness with the dream of the earth
Begin to inhabit a larger, relational sense of inner sovereignty that can meet the world and its challenges in our present time
