Simon's Rock Portfolio
Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of this teaching portfolio is to document my teaching experiences while at Bard College at Simon's Rock and the evolution of my teaching style while a full-time faculty member during my first two years (Fall 2015 - Spring 2017). I feel this is when my teaching grew the most during this position.
This portfolio investigates my year (2015-2016) in teaching high school curriculum for a college-prep program (consisting of Algebra 1 and Geometry materials). In addition, I examine four semesters back to back of teaching an Introduction to Statistics course. Furthermore, I will discuss my experience guiding 2 independent projects in data science. Finally, this portfolio explores my first time experiences with Linear Algebra and a self-designed Machine Learning & Neural Networks course.
There are two parts:
1. Evidence of Teaching and Learning:
Professional Development: This section describes a conference I attended in July 2016 called the International Positive Education Network (IPEN) Festival. There is a reflection essay and examples of how I have incorporated what I learned into my curriculum.
Artifacts: There are 2 midterm student evaluations and 1 end-of-term student evaluation. These document the students' impression of my classroom environment.
2. Reflective Summary: There is a reflective summary for each course. In addition, there is a reflection on the year and the portfolio as a whole.
Each part is available in the Teaching Portfolio Subpages.
