Among those who lived here between 1900 and 1920 were Andrew Lindores, who later set up his own lodgings at Number 27; Stewart Craig, who hired motor vehicles; and James Erskine, a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. J Ormand Russell, who lived here from around 1911 for a few years, was a tailor and clothier, with a shop in George Street. His fame travelled as far as New Zealand as this advert from the Otago Times in Dunedin indicates.
