In my classroom, we will demonstrate hands-on, discovery based, experimental, and cooperative learning to help engage my students in their learning experience. I believe that teachers should help students thrive in the classroom by guiding them. Proper scaffolding will teach my students to be independent. I also believe that you must teach in your students Zone of Proximal Development. This will ensure that they are being challenged at their instructional level but that they will not pass into the frustration level. My classroom will be student-centered where my student's opinion will matter and their voice will be heard and valued. Decision-making will be a collaboration of my students' ideas and my own. My classroom will create a positive loving community that will help my students grow and flourish. My students will show respect for one another and will create the guidelines to be followed in the classroom. This will allow students to understand and respect the expectations they created for the classroom. I believe in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. This includes morning meetings to enhance my classroom community, creating classroom expectations as a class, having classroom routines for the students to learn and follow, and acknowledging good behavior also known as positive praise. Children are our future and every child should have a fair and equal opportunity to succeed.
Teaching is about making a difference in the lives of your students. I believe that every student should be able to thrive in the classroom. To do this, I have to be open to developing meaningful relationships with my students and knowing background information about each of their lives. I believe that UDL should be represented in the classroom to allow all students the chance to learn the way they learn best. All children are unique and should have a safe environment to thrive in mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. I will assist my students in expressing and accepting who they are, and embracing the differences of their peers. I will also use technology in the classroom to better benefit my students. The use of technology allows for creativity, collaboration, and engagement throughout my classroom. To conclude, my teaching philosophy encompasses many ideas, but it is critical to recognize that every student is different and instead of pushing away the differences I want to embrace them. Embracing diversity can be seen through books, content, and conversations. I want every student to feel represented in my classroom. My love of children and learning are the two factors that I believe will make me a passionate and caring teacher.
