I was given the opportunity to research in depth about the ISTE Standards. The ISTE Standards were created to encourage communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity to be used globally. These are a set of standards that emphasize the skills and quality teachers wants for their students and what their students want for themselves. These standards will help to enhance a students learning ability throughout their learning career. We want out students and teachers to be engaged in a connected world. These standards bring together the brightest of students and teachers and provides them with "benchmarks" to grow from.
Other groups in my class were given the opportunity to research other Hot Topics. These topics included: Evaluating Websites, Social Media, Net Neutrality, Internet Safety, and Copyright and Fair Use. Something that all these topics have in common is that they all refer to UDL. The Universal Design of Learning wants to incorporation multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement into the classroom. All of these hot topics are being brought to our attention to help our students get the best education for themselves. As technology becomes more and more popular and advance, we must make sure that our students are growing with it too. They need to have a clear understand of what it means to be safe within all those topics.

Below I have attached a certificate stating that I have completed the EdWeb webinar. This was an hour long webinar that went through a lesson on incorporating technology into the classroom and what exactly that would look like. The teacher giving the webinar was very passionate about technology and understood the importance of sharing technology with her students. She created her lesson around technology and allowed the students the independence of completing this lesson at their own pace. Also included is my groups hot topics newsletter that gives you a quick recap on what exactly the ISTE Standards are.
