Hello!
My name is Abigail Huff! I am from Fairfax, Virginia. Teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I graduated from Radford University with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and extended my stay one more year to receive my master's degree in Special Education. Over the past three years I have experienced student teaching, volunteer programs, and substitute teaching. I have loved every one of these experiences and can only hope my future holds many more amazing years. I have learned how to lead, how to explore, and how to advocate for my students. I have experience teaching in both the elementary and high school setting. Through my student teaching I have worked in 2nd, 5th, and 11th grade. I have a diverse background with much to offer.
During the summer time, I am a camp administrator at a local Fairfax County summer camp. I communicate with parents, children, and counselors on a daily basis. I am in charge of coordinating the camps day to day activities and supervising the children to make sure they are healthy and safe. I am also in charge of supervising the counselors to ensure successful management of campers.I also have experience substitute teaching. These experiences in leadership and teaching verify my dream to become a dedicated educational professional. My resume is attached for further information on my past experiences.
As a teacher, I have the power of change. I believe in making learning exciting. I want my students to WANT to learn. My classroom will enhance student creativity, encourage diversity, engage every learner, and excite the mind. I plan to use multiple means of representation to bring my classroom to life. My students are going to feel valued and respected. My goal as a teacher is to impact each and every one of my students and be an advocate for them. I believe a classroom should be full of laughter and conversation.
As this is my first year entering the teaching profession, I am excited for all my "firsts". I cannot wait to begin this journey and feel that I am prepared and enthusiastic about the start of the school year! Thank you for taking the time to look through my teaching portfolio, and I look forward to meeting and speaking with you very soon. I am available by telephone at 703-863-7410 and by email at Anhuff97@yahoo.com.
Sincerely,
Abigail Huff
