New Info (PROCEDURES) regarding Windows Movie Maker and Dropbox

Post date: Apr 10, 2013 2:38:16 PM

As you know, there are two versions of Movie Maker installed on the library computers: WMM 2.6 and WLMM Windows Live Movie Maker (the newer version). WLMM was the version demonstrated to you.

We were having issues inserting videos into WLMM as the videos kept crashing, so we tried WMM 2.6. This older version does not have the editing capabilities needed.

It was determined the problem with WLMM was the videos were housed in Dropbox, a web-based storage device. WLMM requires its resources to be housed on the local computer, and not be continuously linked to the Web.

Therefore, new procedures have been established so you can use WLMM and have all the necessary editing capabilities:

PROCEDURES

1. Dropbox will still be downloaded to your computer for ease of use.

2. Mrs. Phillips will copy a folder to your dropbox account that contains all the videos; this folder should be renamed to become your project folder and all other resources stored here (images, audio files, etc.)

3. When actually working on your project, copy your project folder to My Documents for use that period. Once you have done this, if you are asked to overwrite as file already exists, click yes.

4. When finished working on your project, copy your project folder back to your Dropbox folder. Once you have done this, if you are asked to overwrite as file already exists, click yes.
