Summary: The student will discover possible careers of pursuit based on interests and aptitude and will research specific information and details about those careers.
Assignment
Day 1 - Part 1:
1. Go to My Next Move (or Mi Proximo Paso for Spanish).
2. Select 'Start' in the 3rd section (purple section - I'm Not Sure).
3. Click 'Next'.
4. Read each screen carefully. You will answer 60 questions related to your interests and aptitude.
5. After you have answered all the questions, you will have the opportunity to review your answers and make changes.
6. Once complete, click 'Next' and view your 'Interest Profiler Results'. Click on any one of these for an explanation.
7. When finished, click 'Next' to continue and read each page as you continue clicking through the pages.
8. Select the job zone preparation type that you would desire.
9. Look through the list of careers and select three that are of interest to you. These are the ones you will research extensively.
10. Go to Part 2.
Assignment
Day 1 - Part 2 and Day 2:
1. Go to Occupational Outlook Handbook or any career search website.
2. You will be researching information for ALL THREE CAREERS, NOT JUST ONE.
3. You may fill in the attached document (complete this electronically) and then submit to Mrs. Hicks it via Edmodo.
4. Research the following questions:
a. Name of career
b. Median pay (for 2012)
c. Education required
d. Number of jobs in 2012
e. Job Outlook for 2012-2022
f. Employment change for 2012-2022
g. Describe what people in this career do
h. Describe the work environment
i. List similar occupations
