Change Management Methodology - Is your change management process complete?

There are change management elements that are usually taken into account before engaging into any change management endeavor such as: company structure, culture and overall governance, change tools concerning any automated tools, templates, processes and procedures meant to sustain the change process and of course the needed

resources, knowledge and competence needed in the specific domain in order to shape and implement the change vision.

But at the heart of all this is the change methodology which drives the whole change process implementation. Besides in house tailored change management processes, most presumably elaborated in a Project Management Office (PMO) context there are successful, publicly recognized models concerning change management.

These are:

  • John Kotter's 8 Steps Model
  • The Prosci Change Management Methodology

The first model is more focused on corporate level while the second gives insights and recommendations on the main aspects of individual change. For an accelerated adoption it is recommended to employ an end to end perspective of the change model in order to act efficiently from one side to the other side of the change spectrum through a combination of the aforementioned models. This way of acting provides a checklist that all levels affected by the change management process have been considered.

We can use this graphical representation as guideline (see attachment).
