The Chair is responsible
for conducting the business of the organization. He/she presides over meetings;
appoints other committee chairpersons; and coordinates dates, times, and
locations of meetings. The Chair coordinates, along with the Vice Chair, any
response to an emergency that occurs during their term, including volunteers
and supplies. The Chair has the authority to delegate any responsibilities to
other steering committee members. Ideally, either the Chair or Vice Chair
should be from the cultural heritage community or emergency response community.
In the absence of the
Chair, or in the event the Chair is unable to serve, the Vice Chair shall
perform the duties of the Chair. Ideally, either the Chair or Vice Chair should
be from the cultural heritage community or emergency response community.
The Secretary shall maintain the attendance and minutes of meetings and
prepare correspondence as necessary. The Secretary will also receive and
distribute attendance and minutes to the entire membership in a timely manner.
Financial Services Committee
The Financial Services Committee works to secure funding for
programming, operations, and other endeavors of Alliance for Response Pittsburgh.
Committee activities include applying
for grants, seeking donations and sponsorships, and managing revenues and
The Membership/Marketing Committee is charged with recruiting members,
both individual and institutional, to participate in Alliance for Response
Pittsburgh and for maintaining the membership listserv and the emergency
contact list for Alliance for Response Pittsburgh. The Chair is also
responsible for maintaining the group’s website, Facebook page, and newsletter in order to
advertise upcoming events.
Programming Committee Chair:
The Programming Committee is responsible for development and
implementation of appropriate information, training, exercises, and/or
educational opportunities for Alliance for Response Pittsburgh and other
entities with whom the organization interacts and collaborates. This committee
also promotes Alliance for Response Pittsburgh knowledge of and participation
in statewide, regional, and/or national training and education endeavors
related to emergency and disaster activity.
Planning Committee Chair:
The Planning Committee will work on projects related to promoting
better cooperation and communication between cultural organizations and first
responders.The Planning Committee will
work on organizing community-wide initiatives to foster better understanding of
emergency response factors and coordinating response.
