Do you know a colleague or institution that could benefit from joining our disaster cache? Attending our trainings? Becoming more involved with other area cultural heritage organizations? Connecting with our first responders?
Invite them to a meeting! Protecting our cultural heritage one more person at a time! Our Mission:
The Alliance for Response Pittsburgh initiative provides a forum for information, cooperation, and communication among emergency management organizations, first responders, and cultural heritage institutions in the greater Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania region. Our aim is to foster a cooperative approach to disaster preparedness, emergency management, and cultural heritage protection.
The Pittsburgh Alliance for Response Kick-off Forum was held June 4th, 2008 at the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh. Since that initial forum, we have held meetings each year as part of a network under the umbrella of Heritage Preservation. In early 2015, Heritage Preservation transferred several successful project, including Alliance for Response, to the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (FAIC).
As of the summer of 2011, a formal committee structure was adopted in an effort to continue growing successfully.
Please check out our Past Events page for more information concerning our kick-off forum.
What is MayDay?
Started in 2006, MayDay is an event used by cultural institutions as a reminder to better prepare and protect the cultural history in their care.
