Valerie Peterson

Valerie Peterson is a talented 32-year-old project manager in a San Francisco software startup. She is concerned not only with the work of project management, but also interested in technical aspects of her company’s growth.

She has heard that the ACM 2010 CHI conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, and her interest is enhanced by noting: “CHI 2010 looks outward to the human experience of computing in the world. “We are HCI” challenges our community to embrace the diversity of HCI in the world and to exclaim our commitment as a profession to empower people from all walks of life.”

Given the universal design of the software that her company creates, she believes that she would benefit from attending the conference. As a project manager, she has traveled often to client locations in the San Francisco area. But, most of her travel has been local. She has some concerns with air travel and the local transportation in a new city. She has rented cars from Hertz with hand controls, but she does not want to drive in a new city if most of the conference is in one location and the public transportation is accessible.
