Meeting Recap: Sept. 25, 2013 (Transition and Change)

In her round robin evaluation, she was advised to slow down and pause more before and after each punchline.  And guest Jason Kopylec, the Area 33 contest winner, carried a full band inside his mouth with his speech, “2% Jazz, 98% Funky Stuff.”  His evaluator, Brian Robinson, recommended framing the music with a theme or greater point, such as the importance of finding your own inner funk.  If all that weren’t enough, new member Sheryl Berger also delivered a speech, “The Phone Call” with a riveting story about the day her sons were arrested.  Evaluator Pam Burke provided advice for keeping more spontaneity in the speech.  Table Topics Master Pam Burke posed a series of questions on how we can move ahead in life, answered with aplomb by Brian Robinson, Neerja Purang, Manuel Saldana, and guests Devatha Kesarkodigae, Sal Oppedisano and Marcia Chambers.   Sal and Marcia enjoyed participating so much that they joined APS.  General Evaluator Marcia Berry provided feedback to Table Topics respondents on how to make future answers even more effective.Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, October 10, with the theme of “Traveling.”  LGET and DTM Neerja Purang will serve as Toastmaster of the day, and District Governor Kazuo Noguchi will bring a team of raiders from Global Expressions to capture the Traveling Gavel away from APS.  We still have an opening for Grammarian/Ah Counter—sign up here.
