Dear APS Members and Friends,
Wednesday night, APS held a rollicking Table Topics and Humorous Speech contest. All contestants performed with wit, wisdom, and creativity. Thanks go to Georgia Jones for her hard work in organizing the event and acting as Table Topics Contest Chair, and to Pam Burke for her work as Humorous Speech Contest Chair, as well as to our many contest officials, providers of refreshments, and guests. In Table Topics, contestants had to state whether they agreed with 2-time British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli that one should never explain and never complain. Contestants Harry Aneziris, Eloise Johnny, Rafay Khalid, Christine Navigante, Brian Robinson, and Manuel Saldana all furnished excellent reasons why sometimes a little explanation (or a lot of complaining) might be a good thing (or not).Congratulations to our winners!

In the Humorous Speech category, Harry Aneziris explained how dying may not be too bad . We heard how Derek Chen’s new Russian accent makes him even easier to understand. Todd McKinney warned us that while we’re around dogs, we need to watch our step. Manual Saldana pleaded for some new inventions to help him translate his inspirations into reality. And Gouri Seetharam demonstrated how we can use semantics to convert our flaws into perfections. Congratulations to our winners!

Winners will progress to the Area 44 Contest on September 30at Thomson Reuters, 195 Broadway. Mark your calendars so you can come out and support our club winners.
