Meeting Recap: Sept. 10, 2015 (Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests)

Dear APS Members, Contest Functionaries, and Guests,

And the winners are...

All of us!  While the contest winners walked away with flimsy little certificates (okay, and some glory), the audience members were treated to an evening of hilarity, life lessons, and some examples of master speakers in action.  Here are the winners:

Table Topics

"Which is better, questions or answers? Explain." This philosophical Table Topics question seemed to temporarily stun the contestants.  But they each quickly recovered to deliver eloquent answers on the balance of life and how "you can't have one without the other."  The results:

1st Place:     Harry Aneziris

2nd Place:    Georgia Jones

3rd Place:     Todd McKinney

Humorous Speech

Our humorous speech contestants kept the audience laughing, whether they were exhorting their listeners to keep smiling, kick an addiction, be careful which book you buy, or face down a dangerous animal.  The champions:

1st Place:     Todd McKinney

2nd Place:    Derek Chen

All contestants turned in superior performances, giving our judges a real run for their money.
