Lord Byrinth

History:

Lord Byrinth first appears in Super Mario Mazes, where along with his sister Princess Ezam, ruled their kingdom across the sea. However, neither could decide on a proper way to rule, Ezam wanted to rule with kindness, while Byrinth wanted to rule through fear and tyranny. Leading to their kingdom being split in half, one half controlled by Ezam and the other controlled by Byrinth.

After searching through the ancient texts of Mushroom Lore, Byrinth found that the power of the Shadow Cube can grant the holder unbelievable power. Byrinth searches in the Stone Mountains and finds the Shadow Cube. Upon touching it, Byrinth lost most of his skin, leaving him a skeletal monster. Corrupted by the Cube's power, Byrinth returned to his kingdom and successfully murdered his sister, gaining complete control of his kingdom.

He later enslaves his citizens to invade the Mushroom Maze Competition in the Mushroom Kingdom, where he successfully kidnaps Princess Peach, but loses the Shadow Cube to Mario. From thereafter, Lord Byrinth holds Princess Peach hostage and uses her as leverage to secure he gets the Shadow Cube once again.

After the team reaches the top of Tick-Tock Clock, Lord Byrinth is waiting for them as Bowser Jr. arrives to battle him, only for Byrinth to mind control Jr. and get him to attack Bowser, his own father.

He later returns in Stone Mountain and attempts to destroy Mario and Bowser himself. After being defeated, his power withers, causing his psychic hold on Princess Peach to break. He will angrily shout at the team for meddling in his plot and promises to destroy them one way or another.

Lord Byrinth is not seen for the rest of the story until the final level in Bowser Labyrinth, when he decides to kidnap Peach once again and merge with her and the Shadow Cube, creating Lord Byreach! After it is defeated, a flash of purplish-pink light will flash over Lord Byreach's body, freeing Peach from Lord Byrinth's control permanently and killing Lord Byrinth in the process.

General Information:

Physical Appearance:

Lord Byrinth is a skeletal being with no legs and bug-like wings. He has two large slaw-shaped bones for his hands at the end of long bony arms. He also wears a crown resembling Princess Peach's.

Personality:

Lord Byrinth is malicious and cruel. Despite his small appearance he is able to overpower the mighty Bowser without any remorse. He is not afraid to attack innocent people to get what he wants and is determined to get his way. He does not approve of opposition and resistance as he used his power to knock the heroes back.

Lord Byrinth also enjoys mazes and is very skilled at travelling through them.

Powers and Abilities:

Lord Byrinth is able to levitate and fly through the air. Lord Byrinth also possesses more abilities due to the Shadow Cube. This includes the power of mind control, able to manipulate others to do what he wants, regardless of the victim's loyalties as he was able to control Bowser Jr. into battling his father in a maze race.

Lord Byrinth also possesses psychic abilities, including seeing into the future, telekinesis and mind reading.

He is also able to merge with his brainwashed minions into monstrous creatures, granting him superhuman strength and endurance.

Lord Byrinth considers every creature and being his enemy and those that are useful, he considers as tools to further his goals.

Friends:

Lord Byrinth has no friends and refuses to accept friendship from others, even Princess Peach.
