2009 Reunion

2009 Reunion on weekend of April 17-19

This year's reunion started on Friday evening with a drink in the bar at the Marine Hotel before walking to the Aber Town football club entrance at 7pm. We were then escorted by Tiggy to the hospitality suite to watch the last home game of the season against Llanell, a game which ended in a respectable 1-1 draw. After refreshments and a little alcohol we returned to spend the rest of the evening in the Marine bar.

On the Saturday morning we split into a number of different groups with only Jim and Beryl being really adventurous. They caught the bus to Borth and walked the coastal path back to Aber. The journey turned out to be a lot steeper and arduous than they remembered from their student days. Another group took a less adventurous walk to Clarach and back and even then some took the cliff railway route up and later down Consti.The weather was sunny and warm and an ice cream at Clarach was very enjoyable. The remainder of the reunion group wandered around town and/or relaxed.

Two groups of four golfers enjoyed a very pleasant Saturday afternoon at Capel Bangor's 9 hole course. Everyone was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course, which was better than expected for a nine hole course. Des, Jeanette, Ken, Bruce, Huw, Tony, Derrick and Howard reflected on the missed putts over a refreshing pint whilst sitting on the patio of the golf club overlooking this attractive little course. Some of the rest of the reunion group amused themselves with a game of crazy golf.

In the evening 25 people sat in the lounge of the Marine Hotel to have a very enjoyable meal followed by the traditional sing song and games. The evening was punctuated by a walk to kick the bar at midnight and ended up back in the hotel bar. The weekend was finished off following a leisurely stroll along the prom on Sunday morning and a coffee by the bandstand. Another enjoyable and successful reunion which, hopefully, looks very unlikely to be the last.
