Task 4 - Children's Books

Students create children's books about a topic of their choice. Students must choose a real life topic to base their book on; for example, segregation, 9/11, civil rights, mythology, the Holocaust, etc. Students then research their chosen topic, annotate their research, and summarize their research. Once it is clear that the student understands their topic, they begin writing their children's book. Students must decide whether they will strictly tell the facts or if they will make up fictional characters who will tell us about the event they studied. Students are focusing on audience and tone with this assignment, communication and collaboration, as well as working on the writing process.
