William Sloan Young

William Sloan Young served in the 3rd Scots (possibly S Squadron). He was a tank wireless operator. He served in NW France from 20th July 1944 till 28th August 1944.

He was accidently poisoned 31st July 1944. He may have been in the area of Caumont and a family story tells that his tank ended up in a ditch and the five crew members managed to get out and run to a farmhouse. He and another crew member were later picked up and taken to a hospital or hospital tent for a period of time but eventually were flown back to a hospital in England.

He survived the war and was in the 3rd Battallion Scots Guards from 1939 to 1945.

He came from Kilmarnock in Scotland.
