Sgt Andrew Hay
Andrew was born in Larkhall, Lanarkshire on 1st July 1916. His parents were Robert Hay and Margaret Hay (nee Grindlay). His time with 3rd Battalion Scots Guards was spent in various places, including a year or so (1941 to Spring 1943) at Codford St. Mary, Near Salisbury in Wiltshire.
He married Mabel Prudence Simpson (known as Prue) at All Saints Church, Weston, Bath on 11th March 1944.
His Battalion went to Normandy on 20th July 1944 and the first operation his battalion was involved in was 'Bluecoat' which commenced on 30th July, the day Andrew died.
