Tech Services
Hi Everyone,
As I alluded to in my email, the District wants all teachers and schools to become Common Sense Media certified as the roll out for one-to-one technology is underway. This requires every teacher to get the certificate so we can get the seal on our school website.
Certification is very simple and I have broken it down into the following steps:
Step 1: Do Some Reading
Please click on the following links to see the tutorial and read through the resources page.
Complete online Digital Citizenship Curriculum Training. (This page says that it will take an hour to get through the Tutorial. But have no fear! You can get through it as fast as you want to get through it. I did it in 5 minutes)
Read through a Tech Tips & Resources page.
Step 2: Teach a Lesson
Click on the Common Sense Media link and choose a lesson to teach (you have a variety to choose from on different topics). Email me with the title of the lesson you chose and a picture of your instruction for me to share with the District EdTech team.
Teaching a Common Sense lesson.
Lesson Spotlight 1: Cyberbullying
Lesson Spotlight 2: Strategic Searching
Step 3: Reflection
Click on the link below to complete the application to get certified. Scroll down the page and click "Apply Now". It requires you to write a short reflection (no more than 500 words) about: What impact do you think becoming a Common Sense Educator has had on you or your students?

I also took a screenshot of the components you need to check off when completing the application.
One of the requirements is to host a parent event about Common Sense Media. I will be taking care of this portion in a way where it will count for the entire staff, which will make things a lot easier.
If you have any questions at all or need additional support let me know.
