History

The 66th Muirhouse Company has been in the area since 27th September 1963. The initial meetings were held within Silverknowes Primary, then moved to our current location St Andrews Muirhouse Parish Church.

The Full History

The United Free Church (Continuing) after the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Churches in 1929 began a Company in 1934. It was never a large Company and had difficulty in recruiting Boys in the area. It depended on children of the congregation. Life Boys began in 1934. Captains : 1934 James R.Macondochie: 1935 Thomas Hogg.

This company then closed and the number was then used for the company in Muirhouse.

Muirhouse Church, in the new housing area, founded a Company in 1963 with the assistance of Captain W.Main of the 10th (Old Kirk) and Captain J.Proctor of the 51st (Dean) Companies. It met in Silverknowes School. Life Boys existed from 1962. In 1977 the 10th (Old Kirk) Company and the 66th met together under the same Captain but separated again in 1982.
