Group Committee provides service and support to the section leaders. In partnership with the Group Commissioner and Group Administrator, the Group Committee provides the administrative foundation for the group. We are all volunteers
Group committee meets on the last Sunday of each month at 7pm (June and July excepted).
The responsibilities of Group Committee are varied.
Roles:
Group Commissioner - the support scouter for all of 3rd Waterdown. This person ensures that the section scouters have the support and management they need to run their sections.
Group Administrator - this person ensures that the sections have places to meet, and helps organize group events.
Treasurer - this person ensures that the group finances are in order
Secretary - this person ensures that communications between group committee and the sections are correct and current. Minutes from the committee meetings are taken by the secretary.
Quartermaster - this person ensures that group equipment is maintained in a state of good repair, and signs items in and out.
Registrar - this person ensures that every youth and adult member in the group is in the correct sections, and handles membership issues with Scouts Canada.
Section Scouters and Contact Section Scouters - these are the folks that show up every week to volunteer their time and energy to run the program.
Leaders at Large (LALs) - these Scouters can't always help every week anymore, but they do help out with fundraising, group events, camps, and other activities where needed and as they are available.
All of the individuals forming the group committee are registered Scouters, have a valid PRC with VSS, Respect in Sport training, and have agreed to abide by a Code of Conduct. Most of them also have current First Aid training along with other varied qualifications.
