3rd Waterdown Group Camp
This camp was developed as an opportunity for all of 3rd Waterdown to Camp together in one place. It generally takes place at the end of the year to allow for linking activities between the different sections. Over the years it has evolved into a Scouting Skills camp, where specific program is taught to enhance the skills of our Scouting youth. Just last year a completion component was introduced, where by, teams made up of different Scouting levels compete to complete Scouting skills and earn points. The winning team gets their names placed on the new 3rd Waterdown Group Camp Award and Award Certificates. The motto for this award is Scouting, Teamwork, Skills, and Challenge.
Jamboree On the Trail (JOTT)
Jamboree On The Trail was designed to be an annual event to encourage the World Scouting Movement to hike together. All Scouts regardless of age or location are invited to participate.
3rd Waterdown has been participating in this annual event since 2008; it has been used as a linking activity to bring all of our sections together at one large event. 3rd Waterdown also use JOTT as an opportunity to remove litter from local trails and we annually donate our foot steps to the Halton Foot Steps for Trees program. To date 3rd Waterdown has donated 2,440,065 foot steps to this program which equals about 244 trees.
Trout Unlimited Canada’s - Yellow Fish Road Program
This program is designed to remind the public that storm drains are directly tied to our rivers, lakes and streams.
The Scout Troop first learns about local water supplies and how to protect them from hazardous products. They then hit the streets to paint yellow fish near storm drains to remind us all about the importance of ensuring the materials going down won’t damage our water supplies.
The 3rd Waterdown Scout Troop has turned the Yellow Fish Program into an annual event in their programming.
