Masbury

MASBURY

Originally built by Leeds Model Railway Society. Now owned by Ian Evans.

MASBURY in the Mendip Hills was the highest station on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway.

This model is as near to true scale as can be achieved in the space available. The quarry is not geographically correct but has been moved from ‘off- stage’ to add scenic effect. The sidings on the Down side have been extended to give operating interest, anticipating later changes to the actual track layout.

The plain track on the layout is from the 3MM Society and pointwork is handbuilt. The storage yard at the back is tracked with the Peco system.
