David Knight needs your help.
Quote: " I'm hoping you can help. I have been looking in to an incident that occured on 4/6/1942 in Bass Strait when a Hudson of 7 Squadron attacked a Japanese submarine following the torpedoing of the SS Iron Crown. I have been trying to identify the Hudson involved (i.e serial number) and have been advised by the AWM and the RAAF Musuem that the only place the information is likely to exist is in the pilots log book. The pilot was the above mentioned (then) F/L Cyril Clarence Williams, whom as I understand was killed on 9/7/1943 while serving with 2 Squadron. I am hoping you may have some pointers or clues in locating his log book. A copy of the relevent page would more than suffice. My father lives down Bairnsdale (where 7 Squadron was based at the time) way now and would like to do a series of paintings of the above incident and while there are a number of references to it in the history books and records none identify the a/c involved, not even 7 Squadrons own records! (See attachment.) I have been able to narrow it to seven possibles through the ADF Serials site and the book "We Never Disappoint", but have been unable to narrow it any further. Hoping you can help and thank you for your time. Regards, David Knight.: "Unquote
