Last hike before heading home. Drove to Zernez (about 20 minutes), then up into the center of the Swiss National Park.
- High clouds, but looked like time for a 5 mile recommended loop.
- P8 (on map): 6245' at trailhead. Looped up the Val da Stabelchod to high area called Marguret (7720').
- In 1951 this valley was wiped out with an avalanche, so very rock going up.
- Legs felt awesome ascending, so averaged 3.5mph.
- Visited with park ranger at the top.
- Rain clouds coming over from the pass to the north, so scooted around the valley end and headed down the Val dal Botsch.
- Rain started, but since I was headed south away from the rain, and the trail was superb, my legs made the decision to start running.
- Felt like the old days. About 6 minute pace with small pack and trekking poles for stability. Felt awesome and Imade it back to the car before the rain caught up.
Drove down to Scuol. They have a centuries old hot bathes, pools, etc. The facility is called Bogn Engiadina.
- I swam and soaked for several hours. Spa, steam, hot/cold pools, salt pool, water falls for massaging the shoulders.
- Then had Calazone dinner at local restaurant and beautiful drive back to LaPunt just before dark.
