Study of introductory statistics includes:
Understanding variables and identifying the underlying population, data and exploration of data
Understand and exploration of relationships between variables
Randomness and probability, sampling (from a defined population) and collecting data
Statistical analysis of sample data, interpretation
Using analysis of a sample to do statistical conclusions about the underlying population
Inference about the same variable of different populations
Inference about relationship between variables of the same population
Two important applications are possible. Descriptive statistics describes (in summary) important features of the data such as central value and spread (a measure of variation). Statistical inference is a process of analyzing the data to infer some properties of the underlying population. Usually students are also required to do statistical works using a software. There are free open source statistical softwares such as R and Jamovi.
