VFW Post 2503

Our first "Second Thursday of the Month" meeting for 2010 on January 14, turned out to be a really great night for the 172nd. Jack Buffington and his wife Linda, came to the meeting with a big surprise. They presented a beautiful painting to Post Commander Mike Rosso of VFW Post 2503; The painting is of members, Bob Benak and Ray Fornoff, based on a photograph of them taken while on convoy in Vietnam in 1968 . The artist, Terry Barnes is also a Vietnam veteran (1964 - 1967) and although he has painted scenes from other wars, this is the first of his work with Vietnam subject matter.

Terry works in Logistics for the Veteran's Administration and is a co-worker of Linda Buffington, who arranged with Terry to pick a photo from our website and complete the work. Linda has also been instrumental in helping our guys navigate VA procedures in applying for benefits, and we owe her a special thanks for all she does. Our sincere thanks to the Buffington's and to artist Terry Barnes for this great remembrance of our service. The painting is currently hanging on the North wall of the South room and gives the 172nd a permanent presence at VFW Post 2503. A link to our website has also been added to their Home Page.
