Academic Integrity
Underlying Philosophical Principles
All students at Simmons University are expected to be honest and forthright in their academic pursuits. Students are responsible for reading, understanding and abiding by the Simmons University Student Handbook, which includes this academic integrity policy as well as any professional standards and guidelines provided by a specific program and/or College. Ignorance and/or failure to have read this information is not considered an excuse for not understanding or knowing about these policies.
The majority of academic integrity cases are handled by the faculty and/or academic leadership. All allegations, incidents, and outcomes are reported to the Director of Academic Integrity and to the Office of the Provost.

Workshop - Enhancing Formative Learning with Turnitin
This Turnitin workshop (recorded in March 2022) led by facilitators from Turnitin and Mikel Satcher, Director of Academic Integrity, provides advice and strategies for moving beyond solely using Turnitin as a plagiarism checker and demonstrates how to use Turnitin as a teaching tool while promoting authenticity and academic integrity. Turnitin can be used to foster students' understanding of and reflection on the writing process and can be a time-saving tool to provide personalized and timely feedback.Â
