CLIMB Event for Current Mentees 16+ and their mentors:
CLIMB & Beats Rhymes & Life on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 from 6:30-9:00 PM at the SLM office for an interactive workshop where you will learn to write lyrics, rhyme, rap & record your own original song. BRL staff will support you in finding your voice & using it to process whatever is on your mind.

🎶Beats Rhymes & Life is a local non-profit that uses hip hop and the therapeutic power of music to support youth in expressing themselves & learning skills about writing and recording their own music. After this workshop you will be sent a mixed & mastered version of the song we create as a group. . Check out their Instagram (@brlboston) or website for more info!
💵 Earn $50 just for attending & complete the pre-work attached (Telling your Story) before the workshop to earn an addition $25

Feel free to just take notes, record voice notes, have a conversation with your mentor about it, complete it on google docs, whatever works for you!

Join SLM Coordinators and Katharine Klubock (Supervising Attorney in the CAFL Practice Area of the Training Department, CPCS), Amy Chenette (Youth and Young Adult Housing Coordinator in the Adolescent and Young Adult Services Unit, DCF) and Nadia Romanazzi (Director of Legal Education and Policy, MA Appleseed) to learn more through a presentation and open discussion on these topics!
When: September 23rd, 6-7pm

What: This is a virtual drop in space for SLM mentors interested in learning about:
housing resources for youth and young adults
the permanency and transition planning process for youth and young adults engaged with or transitioning out of DCF custody
housing rights as a renter, the eviction process, and rights living in public housing or using vouchers to pay for housing
