St. Sebastian's Weekly Newsletter
September 29, 2023
Hello from Mrs. McCauley
We don't leave it to chance when we leave it to God.
Thank you to the many families that came to mass with the Archbishop this past Sunday. It was a beautiful blessing of the school and celebration. We had an eventful week which started with three rainy days of indoor recess. Our 3K students joined us in the lunch room this week and did a wonderful job! We officially have all of our students eating lunch together. We went to mass on Thursday and Father Thomas agrees that the students did a good job. He even visited them after mass and gave each student a treat as a thank you. We had our first fire drill on Thursday and the students exited in a quick and quiet manner. We will continue to do drills each month. Our teachers did a great job preparing our students for the drill. Have a great weekend! Please remember that there is no school for students next week Thursday and Friday.

Catholic Schools Walk - We are in 2nd place in Siena
Have you heard the news? On Saturday October 14th at 9:00am there will be a Catholic Schools Walk at Siena Retreat Center in Caledonia and St. Sebastian Stem Academy will be participating! We will be celebrating Catholic education and raising money for our school. We will be raising money for student enrichment, specifically a new playground. Attached here is the link with more information on how to create your account. We are currently in 2nd place out of all the Siena Catholic Schools. Shout out to those students that have already started raising money!
Please fill out this form from Siena to RSVP to the event. This is different from the account to raise money. To raise money go online via catholicschoolswalk.org and click on "Make a Donation", or bring cash or check donation directly to the school office. Thank you for your support.
St. Sebastian Home and School
Our next Home and School meeting will be held on October 9th at 6pm.
Attached here are the minutes from our September 11th meeting.
Trunk or Treat
October 29th from 1:00 - 3:00pm in the back parking lot, we will be having our Trunk or Treat. If you would like to participate, all you have to do is decorate your truck and pass out candy. The Parish will be joing us in the festivities. The kids can come dressed up in their Halloween costumes and go up and down the parking lot trick or treating.
Safe environment education sessions
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. If you were unable to make the September 13th date there are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.

Pics of the Week!
Spotlight on STEM!
3K This week we focused on fire safety and how we can care for ourselves and others.
4K This week we learned about living and non living things. You can see this in the picture carousel above!
5K In honor of Johnny Appleseed's Birthday on Tuesday, September 26, K5 explored apples. We read and wrote about apples, compared apples, made applesauce, and even painted with apples.
