Special Education students can earn local diploma credit EITHER by scoring 55-64 on a regents exam OR via the "compensatory option" as follows: student scores between 45-54 on one or more of the five required exams (other than ENL or math) but scores a 65 or higher on one or more of the required Regents exams, in which case the lower score(s) can be compensated by the higher score(s)
Diploma Distinctions
The designation of w/Honors is added to either the Regents or Regents w/ Advanced Designation Diploma for those who obtain an average of 90% on the required Regents Examinations.
Students who complete all requirements for the Regents diploma with advanced designation in mathematics and/or science and who pass, with a score of 85 or better, three commencement level Regents examinations in mathematics and/or three commencement level Regents examinations science, will earn a Regents diploma with advanced designation, with an annotation on the diploma that denotes mastery in mathematics and/or science, as applicable.
