Optical Art Tubes

Examples of student work

Optical art, is a style of visual art that uses patterns and designs to create optical illusions. Using organic shapes called “tubes”, students give their work the impression of movement and vibrating patterns. Utilizing principles of color theory, students use shading techniques to add dimension and illusionistic qualities to their work.

Students create an optical art tube design using organically shaped “tubes”. Once their composition is completed, students use shading techniques to add color to their designs.
