Preliminary Sketch; 10 points. Preliminary sketch shows care and concern. The student put thought into the ideas in the sketch and followed directions as to elements and principals used.
Creativity; 20 points. Picture/sketch shows identity of the student. Forms, background, and foreground are developed and connected to each unit theme and interacting with each other. Ideas are original. The student took the time to develop the ideas and think about the project.
Observation; 15 points. Student carefully observed examples given; the work shows evidence of this.
Painting and/or Drawing; 15 points. Student colored painting with wide range of colors from light to dark; they match the colors in the reference picture; any marks have been erased and are no longer visible. If a drawing is being done, a full range of values from white to black has been used used.
Composition; 10 points. The page is balanced and filled equally; objects lead the eye around the page. The student did a rough draft (sketch) to work out the composition before moving to the final paper; there’s a good balance of color and a focal point.
Neatness; 10 points. Student treated their work with care and respect, keeping concern about the final outcome. They did not work in an indistinguishable manner, stray marks were erased. Area was kept clean, concern was shown for the condition of the room and materials were handled properly.
Cooperation; 20 points. The student cooperated with other students in the class; care was taken with their own work and the work of others. They were able to share materials and take direction. They came to class prepared and participated; they were able to allocate their time properly, and they showed an effort to learn and apply the principles and techniques of Art taught in class.
