I joined SHAPA in 2017 after earning my Master’s in School Counseling from Gonzaga University. I grew up in Spokane, Washington, but have grown to love everything Oregon has to offer since moving here in 2012. I currently live in Sherwood, Oregon with my wife, Christine Budgeon (SHAPA’s SHACC Director), our two dogs, Diego and Rue, and a collection of plants that continues to grow!
Outside of school, I enjoy exploring Oregon through hiking, camping, extreme sports, and other outdoor adventures. When I’m not outdoors, I enjoy reading, playing games of all kinds, exploring technology, and listening to a lot of music.
I value building strong connections with students and families and can often be found at our Sheridan office - please feel free to stop by and say hello!

I believe every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and capable of growth and success.
My counseling approach is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I focus on building strong, supportive relationships where students can better understand their challenges, recognize their strengths, and develop the skills they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
I integrate elements of Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help students understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and to support them in taking meaningful, actionable steps toward their goals. I also collaborate closely with families and educators to ensure students have consistent support across home, school, and community systems.
