At Shenendehowa, we strive to create an organizational culture and environment that acknowledges diversity, preserves equity and fosters inclusive environments in which the culture, life experiences, circumstances, desires and aspirations of students are prioritized, lending to an authentic sense of belonging. 

Shenendehowa recognizes the importance of cultural responsiveness in all aspects of the school system. Culturally responsive schools are places where students learn at the highest levels, parents are fully engaged in the school, and staff have quality professional development to ensure social justice for all students.

In order to fulfill this mission, we work in four areas: classroom and school environment, instruction, curriculum and assessment and professional learning. This website is designed to provide resources for each of these four areas.  We begin this journey by investigating our own beliefs and values first and progressively moving to the larger community.

We believe in creating brave spaces where we can share our thinking. If given the opportunity, we can grow in understanding of each other. Dialogue opens the door.
