7. Annual Feedback Workshop

Annually, the GTA team is gathered for a review/feedback session. This allows the academic(s) to raise key points with the team about their successes and points for improvement. DL#7.1 shows the slides used for this workshop.

Feedback is given from the academics to the GTAs about their performance. Round-table exercises are used to get feedback from the GTA team about how the training has been, and what improvements the academics can make.

Part of this workshop is a digest of common themes emerging in peer-training feedback, with advice given to the group on how GTAs can improve. Individuals are not singled out.

Part of this workshop is an exercise on ED&I situational awareness, tailored for the specific teaching context - this allows some good discussion between the GTAs, and to get advice from each other and the academics.

Throughout the workshop, emphasis is placed on the importance of a development mindset, feedback & reflection. Critically it is also an opportunity to thank the team for their hard work and recognise their accomplishments. This further strengthens the mentor relationship, since the academics demonstrate their care of the GTAs development.
