3. One-to-one Training

A GTA will (typically) be designated once per semester, as the ‘Lead GTA’ and do a one-to-one (121) training session for an activity.

This means they receive subject specific training, and pedagogical training which helps them think about their teaching practice deeply and starts their journey as a developing teacher.

After 3 semesters that GTA will have been a ‘Lead GTA’ 3 times, and received all 3 of the following pedagogical training packs:

DL#3.1 - Leading your first GTA group training

DL#3.2 - Introduction to teaching theories

DL#3.3 - Feedback

This individual one-to-one contact is a powerful opportunity to nurture a mentoring relationship with the GTA, encouraging them in their development amidst all of the structured training activities.

After their 121 training, the Lead GTA is ready to train a group of their peer GTAs.
