Submitting Assessed Work

Electronic Submission (Turnitin)

Standard practice is that all written assignments are submitted online. There may be instances where you have to submit in another format or submit a paper copy too. You will be notified via the assessment rubric when this is the case. Unless otherwise stated, submission times will be 12 noon on the day of the deadline. Computer problems will not be accepted as an excuse for missing a deadline. If you have any technical difficulties with your submission, you must email english@sheffield.ac.uk quoting the module name and code (e.g. EGH104: Varieties of English). When your assignment is marked, you can expect to receive comments on the following: your general performance in the assignment; presentation and style; areas to improve.

Instructions on submitting assessments via Turnitin can be found below. Students should include their registration number in the "Submission title" box on Turnitin. Where work has to be submitted electronically via Turnitin as well as in hard copy, both versions of the work must be identical and must be submitted by the required deadline. If either version is submitted after the stated deadline then the whole assignment will be considered to be late and will be penalised accordingly. Students must obtain a receipt for hard copies of work and Turnitin submissions. Students are advised to download a copy of their digital receipt from Turnitin and retain this for their records.

Students should keep copies of all their work submitted for assessment for the duration of the degree.

For help and guidance on with Turnitin, please view 'Submitting a Turnitin Assignment'.

It is your responsibility to check that your work has loaded to Turnitin. You should check your work has loaded as soon as you submit it, by downloading your digital receipt.

You must ensure you save your digital receipt after every submission, as this is evidence that your work has been successfully submitted. If you do not receive a digital receipt, you must email english@sheffield.ac.uk quoting the module name and code (e.g. EGH104  Varieties of English).

If you use the Apple Safari browser to submit your work to Turnitin please be aware that the browser often hangs during the upload process and will prevent you from being able to submit your work. This can be resolved by using Chrome, Firefox, or another browser to submit your work instead.
