External Examiners

All University Departments have at least one External Examiner, who will be a Professor, Reader or Senior Lecturer at another university.

If you wish to know the external examiner(s) associated with your programme, please contact the relevant assessment officer from the list below.

The External Examiners have four duties:

to review and approve the contents of the draft assessment topic lists and timed examination papers
to ensure that examination standards are maintained at a level comparable with those at other universities
to participate in the decision-making of examining boards
to ensure uniformity of decision between candidates of the same standard

Literature Levels One and Two: Professor Brendan Stone
