Welcome to our Alumni Newsletter 2024. It is always a challenge to select which items appear as so much happens across the year. We have had much success this year not only in terms of external validation but with our people. Education is what we do and what we are known for. Following the government need to re-accredit all initial teacher education in the UK, this year we received an inspection visit. Outstanding provision was agreed by Ofsted (the government inspection) confirming our excellent practice. We have been celebrating new professorships both in Doctoral Pedagogy and in Digital Literacy, showcasing the breadth and quality of our work. We work with students as partners and this work has been recognised as cutting edge. Whether students are entering university for the first time (on a foundation or undergraduate degree) or returning to study for a Masters, or professional doctorate or research degree, we value the voices of students. We are a community of scholars and hope that the community continues to be present after the formal period of study has ended. Over the coming year (24-25) the School of Education encompasses a greater number of colleagues and students. From September 1st, the new School of Education will host the foundation degrees (for lifelong learning ) and the Sheffield Methods Instititute. This will grow our portfolio and capacity in positive ways - so watch this space. I hope the newsletter enhances future connections- enjoy.
