It gives us great pleasure to announce this year's David Bradshaw Prize winners, Sophia Ching-Han Yang and Martha Ward. The prize recognizes their exceptional academic achievement and overall contributions to the School and program.
The BA Education, Culture, and Childhood program is pleased to announce Sophia Ching-Han Yang and Martha Ward as the 2023 recipients of the David Bradshaw Prize. Dr. Jessica Bradley and Dr. Yinka Olusoga, program co-directors, meticulously selected the winners after reviewing high-scoring dissertations (over 80%) and evaluating each student's contributions to the School's life and culture. Their volunteer work at open days and recruitment events further strengthened their nominations.
Sophia expressed her surprise and gratitude upon receiving the award. , “I never expected to win a prize, but within these years, I’ve explored so much in the field and discovered what I’m passionate about. I’m truly grateful to be a part of the course, where I learn about education, not only theoretically but also through many role models (all the tutors and staffs). Their care and rich knowledge have shown me what education really means. They’ve helped me to bring out a better version of myself! I’m excited to see where the future will take me, and now I can proudly say: I am a graduate of BA Education, Culture, and Childhood and I am Sheffield made!”
Martha commented, “I am so delighted to get this award! I have loved my time with the School of Education and have made lots of amazing memories. I am really passionate about the research I have done both as part of my degree and with the wider university and it is lovely to feel that my work has been acknowledged. I have been so grateful for my incredible coursemates who have openly shared their thoughts and experiences and contributed so much to my learning.Thank you so much for giving me such a great degree experience! “
